Brow Expert and Head of Product Development, and Head of Operations at Sania’s Brown Bar in Scarsdale, New York
“I love being able to help people feel more confident. I love seeing their excitement when we finish our work.”
Sania began shaping her daughter Val’s brows when she was around age 13, at a time when the young teen’s friends were obsessed with waxing their brows down to thin little lines. Meanwhile, Val embraced her mother’s appreciation for natural minimalism and her less-is-more mentality; she proceeded to pay special attention to brows every time she saw a celebrity in a magazine or on the big screen.
After Val graduated from NYU in 2010 with a Bachelor’s degree in sociology and economics, she joined Sania as head of product development with a focus on sourcing and branding Sania’s Brow Bar pencils, tweezers, and scissors. But it wasn’t until Sania brought on Bona and Suzy that Val decided to join them in beauty school and became a brow shaping expert herself.
An artist at heart, Val appreciates how brows can frame a person’s face like a canvas. After a client who’d just finished chemotherapy hugged her at the end of a brow shaping session, she’s become keenly aware of the difference that great brows can make.
Val played a pivotal role for the company during COVID, when the salon closed for 4 months and clients fled the city for the suburbs. She oversaw all operations for the brand’s second shop, which opened in February 2021 in Scarsdale, NY, where she lives with her husband and two children.
